July Winter2006 From the 1st August 06, B
R E A T H I N G WORKS
will be operating a North Shore clinic for those north of the bridge.
As well as 437 Remuera Rd, we will be at: After the excitement of Jim and Tania's book, Breathing
Matters, coming out, life at BW has settled back to normal. We
were flooded with calls. Denise, our admin/receptionist does a wonderful
job and we all really appreciate her calm can-do manner. The feedback
from readers has been wonderful. It's great to have this resource to
add to the growing body of information about the role of balanced breathing
in the maintenance of good health. We continue to be amazed at levels of stress some people live under in their working lives. Many firms are being really pro-active in looking after the health of their employees, now that it has become part of New Zealand work place legislation.
We have had many requests to talk to office groups.
The other group that gives us huge concern is college students - and
their teachers! May you all make the most of the holiday break. Once those bad patterns become established, and uncomfortable
or scary symptoms kick in, health really suffers. Sadly, by then there's
no quick fix. It will take time and expert help to change back to ‘normal'. Even though the commonwealth games are a distant memory, we would still like to congratulate all the participating athletes. The BREATHING WORKS team worked with many of our country's top athletes in preparation to the games. In particular the gold medal winning swimming team - the thanks and feedback from the athletes on our programme has been very gratifying. The New Zealand biannual Physiotherapy conference was held in May this year. Two of our staff members presented papers: Dave Nicholls, an invited keynote speaker, presented Pandemoniums of Vice - illustrating the history of physiotherapy and what makes the profession it is today. This is part of his nearly completed PhD. And Janet Rowley presented - the RoBE-Rowley Breathing
self Efficacy scale on which she based her Masters paper. This questionnaire
is aimed at helping diagnose breathing pattern disorders. Well done
to both of them. A great achievement! Tania, Dinah and the BW team { Back to Top ] |
